House for an Art Lover

The Green Tourism Business Scheme
The House for an Art Lover has reached the Silver award level of the Green Tourism Business Scheme largely by making very small adjustments to the way they operate. The simple yet effective measures they have introduced have lowered their costs in a number of areas – for example, the recycling of glass bottles using recycling bins provided by Glasgow City Council has reduced their overall waste disposal costs by up to £500 a year. Dorothy Johnston, Marketing and Business Development Manager at House for an Art Lover, fully endorses the Green Tourism Business Scheme and is keen to continue their efforts toward achieving the Gold award. ‘As a Mackintosh designed building of significant importance, we are totally committed to preserving the integrity of House for an Art Lover and its environment. Being part of the Green Tourism Business Scheme has encouraged us to implement simple measures which have had a positive impact on our business costs and given us the opportunity to be socially responsible. Our staff now understand that their actions will not only affect the workplace but will also have a longer term impact on the environment. We have found that it is often the small things like turning off the lights when you leave a room or switching off the computer monitors at night, that make all the difference. Our aim is to maintain these high standards and strive towards achieving a Gold award!’ ‘We have had £18,000 of business in the past year as a direct result of our Green Tourism Business Scheme membership’ |

Situated in Parkland and adjacent to magnificent Victorian Walled Gardens, the House for an Art Lover is a truly unique venue.
