Turriff District Agricultural Association

This year marked the 144th Turriff Show. This is the largest annual event to be held in Aberdeenshire with approximately 40,000 people attending the show over the two days. It is also the largest two-day show in Scotland and is regarded as the main shop window for the promotion of agriculture and the food industry in the north-east. As well as the agricultural side of the show, the Turriff Show also incorporates a horticultural show, a lifestyle marquee, trade stands and a children’s area, all adding to the attraction of one of the area’s premier events.

Aberdeenshire Council owns 11 caravan parks spread across the region and customer service is at the core of their service provision. Through implementation of the Customer Services Professional Awards scheme, wardening staff feel motivated to provide the best services levels to visitors which in turn ensures that Aberdeenshire campers are satisfied.

Greenbrae is a bed and breakfast that demonstrates that no matter what size your business is everyone can do their part to reduce their impact on the environment. The commitment of the proprietors at Greenbrae to sustainable issues can clearly be seen by their environmental policy, which encompasses using locally produced food and recycling for example, and a carbon offsetting scheme.

Innovation

Fraser Wilson for the Tin Hut Sessions

Fraser Wilson is an enthusiastic folk singer who has successfully managed to host monthly acousticmusic sessions in Gartly, near Huntly. The sessions attract visitors from all over Aberdeenshire and beyond, welcoming people to comeand play, sing orlisten to both modern and traditional folk and blues music and poetry. This regularly brings people to the area who might not have otherwise come.

The Gordon Highlander Museum

The Gordon Highlanders Museum is an independent, self-financing, visitor attraction located in the west-end of Aberdeen. Operated with the assistance of more than 150 volunteers, the Museum has a great reputation for its friendly service, vibrant atmosphere and warm welcome.

Manager of the Year

Jane Ross - Glen Tanar Ballroom

In her role as Events Manager, Jane must organise, manage and co-ordinate all events at Glen Tanar Ballroom, including weddings, corporate functions, private events, product launches, concerts and charity events. Project managing all the logistical aspects of these events and ensuring they are all set up correctly is key in her role, as are networking and developing new areas of the business. The team at Glen Tanar is small but dedicated, and more often than not customers have left with a ‘wow’ factor as the attention to detail and friendliness of the team surpasses anything else they have experienced.
