This entry is an excellent example of an establishment which is clearly committed to the Natural Cooking of Scotland philosophy and its Scottish virtues. Staff are knowledgeable and caring therefore enhancing the overall experience for the visitor. Shieldhill has seen a significant increase in the number of local diners as a result. Finalist - The Wheatsheaf at Swinton After 14 years of trading, Alan and Julie Reid are very much aware of the increasing demand from customers for fresh local foods. Based in the Scottish Borders they work closely with local suppliers. Dishes are cooked to order, to ensure that each dish is fresh, full of flavour and pleasing to the eye, using the best ingredients to get the best results. This attitude has helped to increase bookings and repeat business as well as turnover.
