Accessibility Criteria

What are the accessibility criteria for visitors with disabilities?

In a 1993 report by management consultants Touche Ross, it was claimed that the UK tourism industry could benefit by ''hundreds of millions of pounds'' if it catered properly for the needs of visitors with disabilities. The report went on to say that few people with disabilities travel, owing to a lack of suitable accommodation, access and publications.

VisitScotland operates a national accessible scheme that identifies, acknowledges and promotes those accommodation establishments that meet the needs of visitors with disabilities.
