Photography and filming
|
The VisitScotland Photo library is managed by Scottish Viewpoint - an independent photo library which holds the largest collection of images of Scotland in the world. This multimedia service is available for use by the media, the tourism industry and government departments to promote Scotland as a must visit, must return destination. Filming in Scotland ‘Set-jetting’ is a growing trend where film fans will visit the locations of their favourite movies. One in five overseas visitors to the UK are inspired to visit by images they have seen in films and on TV. Tourism is everyone’s business and the film industry has an important role. VisitScotland is working hard with its partners to ensure that Scotland benefits from the positive impact of the film industry. There is nothing like a wide-screen hit movie for selling a location to prospective holiday-makers – and Scotland has its share of block-busting titles including The Da Vinci Code, Braveheart, Harry Potter, Rob Roy, Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, Chariots of Fire, Local Hero, The Wicker Man and many more.
