The NGS reserve and display Scotland''s national collection of works of fine art for the enjoyment and education of the widest
possible public audience, and maintain the National Galleries of Scotland as a centre of excellence.
In
support of the above the NGS displays its own collections and loan exhibitions in four galleries in Edinburgh. Its staff carry
out research, source acquisitions and write scholarly catalogues and other publications.
Conservation,
education, building up a database of the collections, development, marketing, publications and licensing; administration, finance,
buildings and security, shops and cafes are other main areas of activity. |
