Self Catering
New Route to Market visitscotland.com aims to offer the customer the easiest and best value route to purchase self catering. The new booking process is in place for self catering businesses and has adopted the 100% Payment Model.
In simple terms, this means that the customer pays all of the self catering booking cost to visitscotland.com and visitscotland.com pays the provider 90% of the total cost of the booking. 10% is retained as commission by visitscotland.com.
On booking the customer pays visitscotland.com a 20% non refundable deposit and the 80% balance is collected by visitscotland.com from the customer prior to the arrival date.
How the 100% Self Catering Business Model works
- The 100% payment model means full payment collection by visitscotland.com from the customer prior to their arrival date
- visitscotland.com notifies the provider of the customer contact and reservation details at the time of booking via the contact method agreed with the provider (preference is email)
- visitscotland.com is responsible for collection of balance from the customer and collects any remaining monies 56 days before the booking starts
- 100% payment is collected from the customer when a booking is made less than 56 days before the booking starts
- Payments from the customer are taken by credit or debit card only
- Any additional charges and security/damage deposits etc., payable direct to the provider can be paid by the provider’s preferred payment method
- The customer can be advised of any additional charges by the provider, arrival information and other special details, within the ‘Special Booking Information’ section which prints on the confirmation form
