Tourism Industry Trends

A monthly update of the wider trends and developments for Scottish Tourism.  Tracking the movements of drivers ranging from the economy, exchange rates to travel demand and the weather, the aim is to provide an indication of the ancillary factors influencing past and future behaviour on international and domestic consumers.

Short Term Economic Forecasts

In response to the evolving global economic and consumer environment, the Scenario Planning team at VisitScotland has constructed two scenarios about the Scottish tourism prospects through to 2009 in order to make sense of the uncertainty.

Long Term Economic Forecasts

The Future Foundation were commissioned by Scenario Planning Group to produce forecasts of visitor numbers and visitor expenditure up to 2025, paying specific reference to 2015.

Growth & Niche Markets

It is the ambition of Scottish tourism industry to grow revenue by 50% by the year 2015.  The section details the contribution niche markets will make towards this goal.
