What is Scenario Planning?

Scenarios are carefully crafted tales that link certainties and uncertainties about the future to the decisions that must be made today. The long timescales involved in seeing the results of acting on those decisions are often refered to as "Long Fuse - Big Bang" problems.  The strategic direction any organisation decides to take will lead to a big bang (good or bad) but can take years to discover if the decisions were shrewd or not.
